DREDGING: ESSENTIAL CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE WORKFORCE

Today, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released guidance to help state and local jurisdictions and the private sector identify and manage their essential workforce while responding to COVID-19.

New Year 2020: Weeks Marine and Cottrell Contracting Digging in Port of Virginia — Deeper, Wider, Safer

Weeks Marine and Cottrell Contracting kick off the New Year in 2020 full throttle ahead at Thimble Shoal and the Norfolk Inner Harbor Channels.  Recently, Weeks installed a new Liebherr crane assembly and clamshell bucket for the job.  According to the Army Corps of Engineers, Cottrell Contracting began dredging the Norfolk Harbor Inner Channel and channel to Newport News on Saturday (December 28th).

Final Voyage: Dredging Titan Douglas B. Mackie (May 3, 1952 – September 11, 2019)

We have lost an industry giant.  Douglas B. Mackie, Chief Executive Officer of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD) from 1995 to 2011, passed away on September 11, 2019.   Doug also served in many leadership roles at the Dredging Contractors of America (DCA) including Association President several times.

Weeks Marine Christens Newest Cutter Suction Dredge J.S. Chatry

Today on August 12, 2019 at its repair facility in Houma, Louisiana, dredging and marine construction contractor Weeks Marine celebrated its 100thanniversary with the christening of its newest asset – the highly automated and multifunctional ocean-going U.S.-flag hydraulic cutter suction dredge J.S. Chatry. The team that created the CR McCaskill and the Magdalen has now constructed the next generation in cutter suction dredges for the U.S. Jones Act fleet.
